Rome Marriage Proposal

Giardino degli Aranci

I came a little earlier at Giardino degli Aranci to prepare for this surprise wedding engagement. It was a nice quiet morning at the park. When they finally arrived I had a chance to take some candid pictures of them as they were walking up. At this time in the morning there weren’t many people around and the proposing moment came out intimately. Then a group of priests came along to look at the view and to take some photographs. It reminded me so much of Mario Giacomelli‘s Little Priests series.
After some fun pictures taken around the gardens and in front of the water fountain at the entrance. We moved on by car to our next destinations. Staring with the keyhole view of Saint Peter’s Cathedral in the distance from the Cavalieri di Malta doorway.

Fontanone water fountain at Gianicolo

A unique location for an engagement photo session with a stunning view of the water fountain and of the roman rooftops. The light here in the morning was just perfect. We also included the Tempietto del Bramante which is just around the corner. A really suggestive location with a very intimate cloister to get some great pictures.

Saint Peter’s square in the Vatican

Our next stop was St. Peter’s square. Such an incredible place for photography. A triumphant architectural location with the basilica in the distance and the stunning columns which allow for some really cool engagement pictures. On our way out we were also able to throw in a picture with the Swiss Guards!

Piazza del Campidoglio

Then we drove up to Piazza del Campidoglio. First we stopped over the incredible view over the Roman Forum. A stunning location with a bird’s eye view over the roman remains. Then we took a nice walk through the piazza stopping by different spots to take photos. Long wide stair cases photographed from above. Columns with beautiful light shining through creating an interesting dark-light effect. Before leaving for the next stop we included a different horizontal angle view on the forum.

The Roman Colosseum

A must place to include in the photo session as this is one of the iconic landmarks of Rome. We had fun here trying to shoot amusing jumping pictures and I think the effect came out pretty well! Then we continued to Piazza di Spagna getting some nice photography on the stairs overlooking the view and Via Condotti in the far distance.

Parco del Pincio

The Pincio park was our last destination with some great shots of the wonderful and unique view you have here. Such a nice and peaceful ambient. A high ground pedestrian area away from the cars and the more noisy parts of Rome. Then we set up some more engagement shots with the wonderful roman background photographed from above. We concluded this Marriage proposal in Rome with a final set of romantic pictures overlooking the scenery from a terrace.
