Beach Proposal in Tuscany at Cala del Gesso
Finding the right place for a proposal often means looking beyond the places everyone already knows. Cala del Gesso, on the Monte Argentario coastline, rewards those willing to make the walk with one of Tuscany’s most beautiful seaside settings. Hidden between the cliffs and the sea, it became the perfect place for this unforgettable moment.
Before the couple arrived, the proposal photographer from Tuscany had already made his way down to the beach. It is a panoramic twenty-five-minute walk down to the sea level. Arriving early gave the photographer the time to explore the cove. Evaluate the area. Understand where people had settled for the afternoon. And decide where the light would work best. He also took some nice shots of the changing views over the coastline, which gradually opened up as the path descended towards the sea.

A Quiet Corner by the Water
Later that afternoon, the couple made their way down the same path. One of the unaware that the photographer was already waiting nearby! After a short walk along the beach, they reached a quieter area close to a small path leading uphill. Away from the busiest part of the cove. There the girl proposing surprised her partner by dropping to one knee and asking the big question! The answer came with a smile that said everything!
Photographing the proposal against the sun was both challenging and exciting. Rather than avoiding the backlight, we used it to create soft, glowing images that gave the moment its own distinctive atmosphere.

Exploring the Beach Together
After taking a few moments to enjoy the proposal, we continued with the engagement photoshoot across different areas of the beach. The light continued to change as the sun moved lower, so we explored the cove looking for new perspectives. Some photographs became dramatic silhouettes against the sea, while others focused on relaxed portraits that captured the excitement of the moment. We also created a series of close-up photographs highlighting the engagement ring before continuing along the shoreline.
Each part of the beach offered a slightly different setting, allowing the photographs to vary naturally while remaining connected to the landscape that had brought them there!

The Walk Back
Eventually, it was time to begin the climb back towards the road above. The return journey takes around forty-five minutes and is certainly part of the experience! Although it is a demanding walk, it also offers several opportunities to pause and enjoy the scenery from a different perspective.
As we made our way uphill, we stopped occasionally to photograph the coastline in the warm colours of the setting sun. Those final portraits, with the beach stretching out below, became the perfect way way to end the photo session!

Looking back, this proposal was about much more than reaching a beautiful beach. It was about sharing the journey, slowing down, and enjoying every stage of the experience together. From the first steps along the coastal path to the final photographs overlooking the sea. The day became a collection of memories that will always be linked to one remarkable corner of Tuscany.
By the time we reached the top, the climb no longer felt like the challenge everyone remembered. The proposal, the photographs, and the time spent together had quietly taken its place. Leaving behind a collection of memories that will bring memory back to this special place!
