Faraglioni at Sunset
The water below shifted between deep blue and turquoise colors as light moved across its surface. We couldn’t believe how uniquely beautiful this looked from above! Boats traced slow lines along the coastline. A light breeze carried salt and the dry scent of Mediterranean vegetation through the gardens. From the upper terraces, the Faraglioni appeared in the distance, steady against the horizon. This is where we started this once a lifetime photo session!
Giardini di Augusto sat above all of it, open to the view of Capri’s coastline and the sea stretching outward toward the Faraglioni. The session was photographed in Capri by Andrea Matone Photography, with two photographers working from separate boats and a drone used for aerial coverage along the coastline.

Giardini di Augusto, Capri
The engagement photoshoot began at Giardini di Augusto, one of the main viewpoints on the island. From there, the cliffs dropped directly into open water, while the light broke across the sea in shifting tones of blue and turquoise. Meanwhile, the Faraglioni remained visible in the distance, framed by open coastline and sky.
Starting a photoshoot in this location, reveals the geography of the island. And sets the stage from some amazing engagement photos! With the strongest frames coming from the edge viewpoints, where rock, vegetation, and water meet in clear contrast.

Piazzetta and the centre of Capri
From there, the route continued into Capri’s centre and into the Piazzetta. The square was active, with continuous pedestrian movement and café seating along its edges. At the same time, narrow streets connected different levels of the town. Creating alternating sections of shadow and light. Perfect for exclusive picture opportunities!
Photography followed both movement through the streets and static compositions from a terrace above the coastline. Capri’s town centre therefore representing an area of transition between enclosed urban space and open coastal views.

Marina Grande and boarding at sea
Later, the route moved down toward Marina Grande. The harbour was in constant motion. Ferries arrived and departed, small boats crossed the water, and reflections from the afternoon light shifted continuously across the surface of the port. At Marina Grande, the session transitions from land to sea. This is where we boarded and set out for the boat proposal in Capri heading out to the Faraglioni rocks.
This was our itinerary: Giardini di Augusto → Piazzetta → Marina Grande → Faraglioni

Proposal at the Faraglioni
The boat proposal in Capri took place near the Faraglioni during golden hour. As the boats approached the rock formations, the sea remained calm and reflected the last strong light of the day. The moment was perfect. The sea was calm. There was no one around. And the sun was shining truly beautiful golden light. Behind the couple, Capri stretched in layered cliffs and architecture, while open water surrounded the scene on all sides.
The proposal took place at sea near the Faraglioni, with both boats positioned at different distances and the drone capturing the wider geometry of the moment from above!

Color coordinated celebration!
Afterwards, the energy moved into a celebratory rhythm. Color-coordinated glasses caught the fading light as a bottle of champagne was opened. The sound briefly breaking into the calm of the surroundings. There was a moment of anticipation, then release, as the cork lifted and laughter followed naturally. Smiles were wide and genuine, with small gestures and glances carrying a relaxed, joyful energy against the backdrop of the sea still glowing in warm gold light!

Sunset on the water
Afterwards, the boats remained near the Faraglioni as the light softened. The water shifted from gold to deeper orange and pink tones as the sun lowered. The Faraglioni remained visible as a fixed reference point while Capri gradually moved into shadow. The session concluded at sea, with the last light reflecting across the water and the Faraglioni holding the final structural point of the composition.
