There’s a unique stillness to Rome just before the city fully awakens. Meeting in the early hours of the morning. When the usual clamor of crowds is replaced by the gentle, rhythmic sound of water cascading over the travertine stone of the Trevi Fountain. It was the perfect backdrop for this special proposing moment! Photographed from the sidelines by a professional photographer from the Andrea Matone photography studio. A marriage proposal when the square is nearly empty and the first light of day illuminates the Baroque sculptures is a truly remarkable experience!

The special moment at the Trevi Fountain
When we met by the fountain we casually headed for the water basin. So as to prepare to toss a coin. Then the kneeling moment. And the expression of joy and wonder filled the air. Followed by an enthusiastic Yes! After the initial excitement and a few moments to let the reality sink in. We took some portrait pictures in around the fountain. Trying out different angle views and different poses.
Then we leisurely strolled towards the Spanish Steps. Rome’s cobblestone streets are particularly charming at this hour. With shopkeepers just beginning to raise their shutters and the aroma of fresh cornetti wafting through the air. Walking through these historic alleys allowed us to transition from the grandeur of the fountain. To a more intimate engagement photo session. Thus capturing their connection as they explored the city as a newly engaged couple!

From Trevi Fountain to the Spanish Steps
Our destination was the iconic Spanish Steps (Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti). Before ascending the steps, we paused for a quick coffee at a nearby bar. In Italy, coffee isn’t just a drink; it’s a ritual, and sharing an espresso or a cappuccino is a wonderful way to pause and celebrate. We then made our way to the staircase, which offers one of the most beautiful vantage points in the city. The history and architecture of this significant roman landmark is truly fascinating.

Lasting Memories on top of the Steps
We concluded the morning photoshoot on top of the staircase. Just as the sun started to rise above the buildings. Offering a clean and elevated view over the city. As the light softened, the setting naturally shifted toward a more relaxed pace. At this point, the composition became simpler, allowing the architecture to frame the scene. Like Via Condotti photographed as a background lead away line. Meanwhile, the steady flow of people added a subtle sense of movement in the background. Bringing the engagement proposal photoshoot to an end!
