A Proposal Beneath the Oculus Inside the Pantheon

By 10 July 2026

A Surprise Meeting Outside the Pantheon

We met outside the Pantheon shortly before midday. Reaching the same rendez vous point so as to appear to be ordinary visitors arriving separately. We recognised each other from pictures previously exchanged. And continued the secret plan by not introducing ourselves. The surprise depended on keeping everything as natural as possible. The incognito proposal photographer entered the monument first. So he could scout out the area and find the best possible spot to ask the big question! Inside, the midday sunlight was passing through the oculus above the dome. The beam slowly reached the marble floor, creating the perfect setting to photograph the proposal!

Waiting for the Oculus Light

When the couple arrived inside the landmark. The Rome photographer was standing in the chosen spot. So the proposer gently guided his fiancee towards that area without revealing what was about to happen. As they reached the beam of light. He dropped to one knee under the oculus. The proposal took place underneath the natural light entering through the ancient opening above. It was a touching moment and the reaction that followed was filled with joy and happiness!

Afterwards, we continued the photoshoot in Italy. The couple explored different areas of the monument. Including the large entrance doorway and sections of the ancient marble interior. Each corner offered a different combination of textures, shadows, and architectural details. The changing light allowed us to create a varied collection of images while keeping the focus on the very special moment that took place!

Exiting the Pantheon into Piazza della Rotonda

Once outside, we continued the photoshoot in Rome by taking pictures underneath the ancient portico. Finding marble backgrounds to continue taking engagement photos in this once of a kind location.  So we focused in on the ring as well as some posed portraits. Afterwards we stepped into the square and the sun. We headed towards the central obelisk and water fountain. Taking some final portraits with the fountain statue details and the Pantheon front facade!
