We met at Hotel de Russie, where the engagement photos began in the gardens. The surprise proposal had taken place earlier that morning, setting a tone of joy and happiness which carried us through the rest of the day! The engagement photoshoot took place along the paths of the hotel’s secluded gardens. Close to the planted areas that surround the estate. Where hedges, stone lines, and dense greenery shaped the setting and defined the photographic background.
A more cinematic approach was used, with attention given to movement through the gardens rather than fixed posing. Brief pauses naturally occurred along the way for portraits. Gestures and small interactions were captured as they appeared within the flow of beautiful Italian-style gardens. These moments guided the photographs rather than by structured direction.

Hotel de Russie Secret Gardens
The gardens are organised into a series of connected sections rather than a single open space. We moved through shaded paths, tighter corners, and more open areas where light shifts slightly as you walk. Some frames were composed more directly. Others came from walking and repositioning within the space. While keeping attention on how the couple was interacting with each other. Along the way we encountered beautiful water fountains. Staircases. Roman statues. Lush greenery and flowers.

Via Margutta
From the hotel, we walked into Via Margutta. The street sits quietly behind the main flow of central Rome. Cobblestones, ivy-covered walls, studio entrances, and worn façades define the area, giving it a slower and more contained rhythm compared to the nearby streets.
The photographer took pictures while walking through it, stopping when a doorway, a patch of light, or a narrow passage created a natural frame. Some images were composed in place, others followed movement as they continued along the street. We tried shooting what we encountered trying to have fun with each other and with the environment.

Overall, the session at Hotel Russie brought together a clear sequence of moments, starting in the gardens and continuing through the movement of the afternoon. As a result, the final images reflect a consistent balance between setting and interaction, where the structure of the gardens and the natural rhythm between the couple worked together to shape the love story photo session.
