Photo Touring Rome on a rainy day

Rain is something certainly everyone wants to avoid when visiting any city as it makes everything more complicated. But it does have some magic to it, especially in such a romantic city like Rome. First of all the city becomes somewhat deserted. People evacuate the streets to take cover under porches or enter bars. This leaves room for more secluded imagery, a more personal introspection of the city of Rome.
Cover can be taken anywhere allowing for photos to be taken in places where one would not have stopped or noticed so easily when trying to reach other locations.

The umbrella plays an interesting role as it adds a great touch or romance to the photo tour as well as it conveys a sense of protection.
From a logistical point of view getting around Rome with rain can be a pain but from a photographic point of view rain may offer a new array of photo opportunities. The water on the sidewalk becomes patinated offering new prospectus on light and interesting reflections to play with.
Hiding inside romantic cafés can also be so enchanting while watching the rain fall out outside and the people scrambling for cover.
Fontana di Trevi becomes slippery wet as the tourist crowd thins out letting the fountain absorb all the rainwater.

I think that event though beautiful sunny days are great for pictures, taking photos on a rainy day does have its photography advantages when it come to making a great photo tour. It is unique, intimate, romantic and creative. Dreamlike in color, elegant in black and white.
