Photo Tour: Imperial Forum and Roman Coliseum

This Photo Tour took place this summer July 2010 in Rome.  We started from the Roman Coliseum, taking different pictures from different angles.  We then headed towards Fori Imperiali (Imperial forums) where the photo on the ancient cobble stones was taken.  What a great picture with the sunset reflection on the stones and Arco Settimio Severo in the Imperial forum in the far distance.   Unfortunately when we reached the Forum we found it closed. Yep, it closes about 1 hour before sunset and in the summertime that is around 19:00.

We turned back on Via dei Fori Imperiali and looked at the Forum from outside trying to snap some nice pictures from above.  The weather was on the verge of raining or breaking through with sunshine. with the latter pulling through in the end.  We caught the very last rays of sun near Church Santa Maria Antigua where the light was just burning red before disappearing under the horizon.    We then walked up Piazza del Campidoglio where we took beautiful photos from the terrace overlooking the Roman skyline.  What a sweeping view and what beautiful colors, a cascade of blues and reds and everything in between.  Last stop was Fontanan di Trevi (Trevi Fountain) just when the light was dimming down and the street lights were being turned on.   Please enjoy some visual images.
