Black and White Wedding Photographer Rome

Black and White Wedding Photography

The groom & bride

The Wedding was planned in Rome well in advance but when it came down to it, it turned out to be quite a rainy day.  This didn’t stop our brave newlyweds  and daring photographer from tackling the city armed with umbrellas and a positive attitude.

The private and intimate wedding ceremony took place in a small room terrace of a known Hotel in Rome.  Later renamed as the smallest terrace in Rome.    I had a 24mm lens with me which was just right.   The moment was both heartfelt and joyous.

I decided to present the pictures in black and white as I found this medium particularly fitting to the photo journalistic nature of the wedding story  which we are about to unfold.  A candid, romantic and spontaneous story which leads us first to hide under umbrellas at Fontana di Trevi.

It was pouring out and incredibly enough,  Trevi’s Fountain was still crowded.   A stop at the nearby Galleria Alberto Sordi was a must not only to capture the beauty of the mosaic ceiling but also to get a break from all the rain and dry off a bit.

Then back in the limo which we used to get from Fontana di Trevi to all the other wedding locations.   As the photographer, I got to sit in the front seat and had the opportunity to capture some more pictures of all the festivities going on in the back.

Next stop was Piazza di Spagna (Spanish steps) which is still beautiful even in the rain.  We moved on to Pincio which is just around the corner to get some images of the sweeping view over Rome.

Our next stop was the Vatican, Saint Peter’s Square.   Perfect for a rainy day as the colonnade provides both a great  backdrop as well as protection from the rain.  We had the opportunity to lay down our umbrellas for a little bit.

Then back in the streets  headed for the Roman Collosseum. I began to get used to holding the umbrella with my left hand or rather to squeeze the umbrella around my elbow and against my chest leaving my right hand to hold the camera and make the camera adjustments.

We took three different prospectives of the Roman Collosseum and we walked on wet grass where the bride had to take off her shoes.   Before getting into the car the groom heloped the bride wash her feet off before our last stop at Piazza della Repubblica.

Some great candid shots. I am also a wedding photographer in Milton Keynes England and love shooting candid. I love the shot of the shoes hanging from the umbrella it really helps to tell the story.

Love the black and white effect for weddings. They add so much class when done like that. You have a real gift for capturing the perfect expressions too.

  7. Beautiful photos! You’re very talented. I particularly liked the one of the Trevi Fountain with the best man’s expression :) It was raining when I visited the fountain as well and suddenly from out of nowhere we got all these people trying to sell us umbrellas lol

The one in St. Peter’s Square is nice too.
