Food is a special area. I personally love this type of still life photography perhaps because it makes me hungry!  And I believe this is also the sense of the imagery.  Food photography should make you hungry.  The images must appeal to your senses independently from taste.  

 

Food photography can be tricky as it requires multiple expertise and many tricks of the trade that go beyond lighting.  The service of a good chef to prepare the meal and to design the plate is essential in order for food photography to be incisive.
