Man in a Capoeira stance

Photographic artwork project on Capoeira, shot on the beaches of Playa del Carmen in Mexico.  It was a very hot summer day.  The lighting was perfect, the sky was blue with some distant clouds.  A great day to be at the beach and a great day to practise capoeria.  

The male athlete preparation was outstanding and the beautiful Mexican Yucatan ocean completed the perfect backdrop to capture all of the fluid acrobatic play of sweeps, kicks, summersaults, jumps and leaps. 

The image clean-up was draining as many people gathered around to watch. All bystanders were removed from the images as well as all other impurities like rubbish and garbage in the picture frame.   I took many photo variants in order to be able to mount them together in a panoramic format. The post production work was long and detailed beginning with choosing the right images to put together. The final result was composed in a panoramic format after extensive post-production which I think reinforces the blend of martial arts, game and dance that is at the heart of the Capoeira culture.
When all’s said and done the end result works and it plays into a nice composition suitable for display.
